Severe Chronic Itch Research Study
About This Opportunity
Researchers are studying an investigational injectable medication for severe chronic pruritus (itchy skin) of unknown cause. Participants receive either the investigational medication or a matching placebo under the skin every two weeks for six months, and are also asked to take a daily oral non-sedative antihistamine and use moisturizer at least once a day for about nine months. The study also includes physical exams, vital signs, blood and urine testing, and electronic diaries for itch assessments. Total participation, including screening, lasts about 10 months with 7 doctor's visits, and trial-related procedures and study medication are provided at no cost.
Qualifications:
- Experiencing symptoms at least 6 months
- The pruitus must be located on multiple parts of the body
- On a scale of 1-10 for itchy-ness, must be at least a 7
- Cannot have an autoimmune disease
- Cannot have taken taken the medication Rituxan (rituximab) in the last 6 months
- Cannot have used the medication Dupixent (dupilumab) in your lifetime
